Original Creation

Greenhouse designation

Voy Kay 26 Jan 2021

Pyrographics are considered an art form, one that needs far more caution then oil paintings since with oil, you can only set two-dimensional skies, trees or bushes on fire!
I think LJMpaintings did this at first, not so long ago. The creation then I meant, not set the house on fire!

With our new home (villa bought in 2016 and is now just over 47 years young) also came two grocery gardens and a medium sized greenhouse. The latter is a semi-professional plastic tunnel with 48 square meters acreage. The greenhouse is divided into two parts where the smaller part is destined for stocking smaller garden tools, sowing and repotting plants as well as stocking multiple potting soil bags and numerous flowerpots in all colours, shapes and sizes. The bigger part is where we grow winter vegetables, indoor plants and/or mediterranean crops.

It often played in my head to give a name to both sections and one day, I came up with the idea to burn names into some residual wood. Today, I'd put that idea into practice.
This is less easy then you would think and it needs a very smooth surface as well as a steady hand. Preparation was made with a pencil, now I just need to clean the wood, varnish it and hang them up.

Hope you like these!

I added an additional picture to this creation, taken at the font door of the greenhouse and showing both sections of it, in early spring.

Wow! Your greenhouse is huge! you can get lost there! Ours is about 8 sq. m. and it requires a lot of work in the summer. I cannot imagine how to do 6 times more work!

Great idea to organize and sign!

Thanks Sunnylady!
The grocery gardens are bigger where one is 52 square meters and the other 60. The 52 one, we don't use and will build a pond, relaxing area and Japanese garden in there.
Indeed lots of work needed but all depending on what you grow and if you can divide the work over the week or with assistance from, in my case, the missus.

I got a wood burning tool with several different tips quite some time ago. Tried using it only once. Incredible how quickly those things heat up and WOW hot! I didn't have the patience to get very far. Did manage to create 3 lovely blisters on some of my favorite fingers though. 😬

Despite your pain, really had to laugh here with that unfortunate creation!
It's the first time I used it and it is not so easy to handle for me. I guess I might try a figure or something in the future, one never knows what goes on in my artistic thinking head! 😊

Hey Voy. This is a great project. I love the idea of these signs for the different areas of your greenhouses. Yes it is difficult..but well worth it. It fits your plan perfectly as it is rustic.
Different types of wood can make a project easier or harder I found. The girl and windmill project I did ..the wood came from craft store...meant for crafting. I tried to burn our street address on a huge semi circle piece of tree trunk. I don't know what type of wood it was as it was ment originally for the fire pit. (tree radius was about 45cm..but the tool would not burn the wood at all..ended up painting our address on it instead)

I knew you would love these LJM!
It will give something to thatgreenhouse, cause it's only thick plastic and solid rustfree metal. i added an additional picture of both sections.

That huge wood piece, was it dry enough to burn things in it? I would love to do this at our front door, with our names and a wolf sihouette (our daughter adores wolves) on it.
Yet a big piece of wood is not easy to find here, at least not at acceptable prices!

Thanks for adding that picture. Yes. These signs you did are PERFECT for it.
The big piece of wood I had ..was in my shed for a few years. it.So it had dried well enough (I thought.) I fished it out of a cord of wood purchased to burn at the fire pit.when I saw the shape (semicircle) I knew right away i wanted to try wood burning on it.

Strange that you can't burn in it, must be the type of wood. Although I am anything but a professional in that! 😋
